What we collect, and what we don't.
We try to keep what we collect to what's actually needed. Here's the short version of what happens behind the scenes.
A note before you rely on this
This page describes how the site works today and a few things we're still building (like premium and email sign-up), written in plain English. It isn't legal advice and hasn't yet been reviewed as a formal privacy policy — so please don't treat it as the final word until it's been checked over.
The short version
Nothing about how you use the site is measured until you say yes. We use Google Analytics to understand which tools and guides people find useful — but it only loads after you accept cookies. Until then it doesn't load, doesn't run, and sends nothing.
The free calculators and guides never ask for anything. A few things do, though, and they're the only ones that do: if you subscribe to premium that's a paid product, so it involves a payment; and if you share something by email or sign up to hear from us, you give us your email address, which we keep so we can reach you about what we're building. We only collect any of this when you choose to take that step.
Cookies, plainly
Your cookie choice
When you accept or reject cookies, we remember that one decision in a first-party cookie called lbn-consent (its value is simply accepted or rejected). This one is strictly necessary — it's how we know whether to load analytics, and how we avoid asking you the same question on every visit.
Analytics cookies
Only once you've accepted does Google Analytics load and set its own cookies (named _ga and _ga_<id>). These help us see, in aggregate, how the tools and guides are used. If you never accept, they're never set.
Changing your mind
You can withdraw or change your choice any time — it's as easy as giving it in the first place. Look for Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. If you switch to rejecting, we clear the Google Analytics cookies for you, and nothing further is measured.
